UMKM (Micro Small and Medium Enterprises) is one of the backbones of the Indonesian economy. This is evidenced when Indonesia was able to survive the economic crisis in 1997/1998. Large companies that were expected to survive at that time turned out that many failed. UMKM is a small-scale community economic sector with local scale, local resources and simple production process that its products are sold locally has made UMKM able to keep moving in the middle of crisis.
Dodol Alip is one of the Small Medium Enterprises whose field of business is engaged in typical local food of Bangka. This small medium enterperise produces Dodol Alip traditionally using human labors in its production process. Apart from Dodol Alip Enterprises, there are many competitors that are engaged in the same business in the food sector.
To be able to survive in the swift current of competition in the industry of Small Medium Enterprises, especially in the field of typical local food production industry of Bangka, Dodol Alip must have a good business strategy.
Therefore, in order to obtain a good business strategy in order to be able to compete, Dodol Alip enterprise, Pangkalpinang must analyze several factors that can determine its business strategy, namely: analysis of internal environment, analysis of external environment and SWOT analysis (strength, weakness, opportunity, threat).
